Slight change of plans and a night giving books to the children in the quieter, poorer streets in Pakse

After some deliberations today, we decided to cross back into Thailand tomorrow and ride diagonally from Pakse, through the Chong Mek border crossing in south East Issan rather than heading back north on Route 13 and crossing into Nakom Phanom.

We made this choice for a few reasons.

Firstly the roads are much wider through Thailand and they drive on the right (Left) side of the road.

Secondly the roads are much safer with far fewer stray dogs and cattle to avoid.

Third reason being we haven't yet seen this part of Thailand or used this border crossing before unlike the route 13 and Thakek border bridge.

We have so enjoyed our time in Laos and can't wait to plan our next adventure for 2016.

Off to a last night in Laos dinner at the Daolin Restaurant in town, some of the nicest food we have had in Laos. Except for Joy's Restaurant and the Sainamhai Resort of course.

We were going to stop at some villages on the way to Takhek tomorrow so instead we headed out to the poorer less tourist part of Pakse and the outskirts to give the remaining books to the children as well as some more at the local markets.

With the books delivered, so ends another successful tour providing education supplies to the wonderful people of Laos.

Tomorrow we have a 523km ride from Pakse to Udon Thani, will be a long day but a beautiful ride through Isaan passing through Ubon Ratchathani and some other towns we are yet to see.
