Luang Prabang to Phonsavahn

After an awesome night with Little Chris and the boys bowling and drinking at the Luang Prabang Bowling alley, we had a bit of a sleep in meaning a later start on our journey today to Phonsavahn.

Phonsavahn is the main town in the Xiengkeo Province, the most heavily bombed placed on earth with millions of UXO (Unexploded Ordinance) left littering the country side from the Vietnam war in the 60's.

To this day, 1 Laos person is killed or mamed by UXO in these bombed regions, such a devestating statistic given the beauty of the landscape and it's people. That said, we will be sticking to the main road so no risk for us.

After breakfast and packing at the hotel, we loaded up the bikes and headed to Joy's restaurant for a quick stop and farewell before we began our 5hr ride to Phonsavahn.

It was so good to see you all again Joy, Paul and Dan. Before we left Little Chris popped past to say farewell and with our Tomato Soup, Baguette and Spring Rolls digesting we were on our way!

The ride from Luang Prabang to Phonsavahn is approx 260kms, starting with Route 13 south before turning east on Route 7. We had all our action cams recording to capture this amazing ride and scenery. Below are some of the photos of the breathtaking scenery and action along the way. Over the next week we look forward to putting together a ride video to share with you all from the footage we captured.

Tomorrow we will be leaving all our gear at the hotel and heading for Long Tieng for an overnight stop. Long Tieng is a town know as the the most Secret place on earth, feel free to google the name to see the history of this iconic location, very excited to visit.
